Chains

Broken Manicals

Chains…. Chains rattle, chains shake, we all have them and best of all chains break.

Jesus is freedom….from your chains. Freedom is not… the ability to do whatever you want, or to be whatever you’ll be. Freedom is… to realize your destiny and to be what you were created to be… in Christ. Jesus can break your chains.

Jesus can set you free…

from the Slavery of a life that is not what it was created to be. A life destroyed by sin…chains… a life bound by the weakness of the flesh…chains… a life that is yet to realize it’s true purpose in life… chains… a purpose that is to be found only in Jesus…

Let Jesus break your chains…”If the son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.”

And When you’re free…yes the devil will come and rattle those old chains… He will remind you of what you were…but don’t believe him…. your chains are gone. Jesus has made you free, “free indeed.”

What do chains look like? Chains are shaped from the depths of our depravity. The deceiver disguises them in the appearance of freedom. He appeals to our lower nature. Chains say I am free to choose my way. I am responsible for me. I am free to do what I want. Chains are shaped by me. It’s all about me. It’s not about God, but me. That’s where our chains begin to be formed in our pride. Chains sound like reasons. I can have this drink, because I deserve it. I can go to this place where sin forged my chains, because I need it. I can take this drug, or live this way because this is me expressing who I am. When all we are expressing is our sin nature that builds our chains. We cover up our chains in the appearance of freedom.

The flesh will build your chains, but the Spirit will break them.

Chains. Everybody has them…

They come in all shapes and your favorite colors…

They look like freedom and feel good at first. Until they start pulling us in a direction we don’t want to go. A place of addiction. A place called destruction.Places where we don’t want to go. Why? Because the Bible tells us, the end of the chains we call sin brings death. “The wages of sin is death.” Wages we earned. It’s what we deserve. Our chains bring suffering. Heartache. Remorse. And they bring consequences that we must face. Why? Because we forged our chains in our depravity and appeal to our sin nature. A nature that brings death.

What is sin? It’s whatever keeps us from hitting the mark of what God calls us to be. Sin is falling short of God’s righteousness.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God, Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus…To declare, I say at this time his righteousness, that he might be just, and the justifier of him who believeth in Jesus.”         ~ Romans 3:23-25 & 26

Your chains will keep you from reaching who you were meant to be in Christ. The Good News is Freedom from your chains is found in Christ!

He has the power to Break your chains and set you free. That freedom is found at his cross. And the power is his blood.

As the Roman soldiers nailed him to the tree with every pound of the hammer your chains were being shattered. Your chains cost something. They require payment to be freed. That payment came in the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross and His blood. The chains of sin and death tried to put their chains on Jesus, but he broke them. They tried and held him for three days, but he broke them. Why? Because He is God’s Holy one. The one and only person to walk this earth with no chains. No sin. And the Bible tells us that the same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead, comes to live in us when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Now if those chains couldn’t hold Jesus. Then they can’t hold us any longer as we receive and then identify ourselves with Jesus in his death and resurrection.

Beware! Don’t think you can break your chains on your own. You can’t. Your hammer isn’t big enough. You need a Savior to rescue you from your chains. His name is Jesus.

And when Jesus breaks your chains. The world will try to put their chains on you.The world likes chains and they demand that you like them too. And if you won’t accept their chains that bring sin and death. A death that is sometimes physical and always spiritual. And it’s always permanent.

They will put chains on you. But as Jesus tells us, “Be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world.”

The world’s chains can’t hold you once your sin chains have been broken. They may persecute you, ridicule you and despise you. But Jesus forgave you and saved you. No fear. Just “Be of good cheer” because the worlds chains our only temporary and your sin chains, which last forever, have been broken by the cross of Jesus and lost their power at His resurrection. You are free. Your chains are gone.
